Collaboration with Lucas Maassen, who stated: “It is time to stop talking about chairs and let them talk back at us.” The Singing Chair does precisely that.

A digital screen on the back of the simple wooden chair shows a lifelike mouth that moves as the chair talks and sings in a deep voice reminiscent of old-time crooners. An interview showcases its wit, confidence, and appeal as an object with a personality of its own.

In 2011 The Singing Chair was part of the Talk To Me exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art New York.

In the following years The Singing Chair performed live at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, Centraal Museum Utrecht, STRP Biënnale and National Film Festival, released a single, delivered a lecture for TEDx Brainport and auditioned for The Voice of Holland.
